FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Nope. Not on our farm, or the farms we support.
We don’t use Bovaer, antibiotics, synthetic chemicals or GMOs. We believe animals should grow strong on pasture, sunshine, and clean inputs - not pharmaceutical interventions.
Our mission is to prove that livestock can be raised ethically and regeneratively, with care for the land, the animal, and the eater.
Need dinner in a hurry?
If your meat is cryovac-sealed, defrost it safely under cold running water, or pop it in a bowl of cold water, changing it every 30 minutes.
Got more time? Let the fridge do its thing overnight.
Yes. If it was defrosted in the fridge and is still cold, you can refreeze it.
Because we freeze at peak freshness (no multiple freeze-thaw cycles), the quality won’t be compromised.
Same goes for deliveries — if your order arrives a little soft around the edges but still cold to touch, it’s safe to pop back in the freezer.
Because we hold ourselves to higher standards — and we never compromise on them.
Here’s how we do things differently:
- Our standards, not just labels: All the farms we work with are certified organic, but we don’t stop at certification. We visit farms, build relationships, and only stock meat that meets our own strict standards for animal welfare, environmental impact, and quality. If it doesn’t align with our values, we don’t sell it.
- Meat raised the right way: Beef that’s 100% grass fed and finished. Chicken, pork, and lamb that’s pasture raised. Game that’s wild caught.
- Gluten Free, Preservative Free, Nitrate Free: Every product, every time.
- No fillers, no shortcuts: Just fresh, whole ingredients in natural casings.
We’re not here to be the cheapest. We’re here to be the most trusted.
Let me know if you want to adapt this for in-store signage, website About page, or email copy too!
It’s not about profit margins — it’s about principles.
We work with small-scale regenerative farmers who prioritise animal welfare, soil health, and real flavour. Our animals grow at nature’s pace, without synthetic inputs or industrial shortcuts.
We don’t list the Family Box by weight - because it’s about value, not volume.
Each box is curated to give you at least $225 worth of regeneratively raised meat for $200, with a mix of cuts chosen based on what’s freshest and most abundant.
What you can expect:
• Enough meat to feed a family for a fortnight (or stock your freezer for the month)
• A variety of cuts for fast weeknights, easy dinners, and weekend slow cooks
• A mix like: a whole chicken, mince, steak, chicken pieces, sliders, stew kit, and sausages
• All meat delivered frozen, ready to thaw quickly if needed
To keep these boxes great value and sustainable on our end, we can’t always accommodate special requests - but trust us, you’re in good hands.
You will receive an order confirmation via email. Our small team will then prepare your regenerative, organic meats. Each order is hand-packed to ensure it arrives in peak frozen-fresh condition. Once your order has left the farm, you will receive another email from us to let you know it's on the way.
You’ll receive a spammy-looking SMS (sorry, we are working on it!) with tracking details when the night before your order is due for delivery. The tracking link will be trk.bcrc.io/[your tracking number].
We do our best to meet your preferred delivery date - and most of the time, we do.
But around 5% of orders arrive on a different day, due to courier delays, limited collection schedules, or longer regional routes.
Frozen freight isn’t for the faint-hearted — especially when each box has two legs of the journey:
- From Byron Bay to the depot in Sydney or Brisbane
- Then onto your local area from there
For most regions, this runs smoothly. But if you’re in places like Bundaberg, Hobart, Perth, Townsville or Rockhampton, that second leg (often called the linehaul) can add a few extra days.
We currently ship out with two courier collections per week to Brisbane, and we’re working on increasing this to three to help reduce delays. Our shipping terms allow for up to 14 days, but the average turnaround is around 10.
Thanks for bearing with us, we know frozen freight isn’t easy, but we do it so you can have better meat on your plate.
No, you don’t need to be home. Our meat is frozen and packed in insulated boxes with Techni ice packs, keeping it frozen for up to four hours after delivery. During the warmer months, we recommend placing your order in the freezer/fridge within 2 hours of delivery.
Our boxes are designed to keep your order fresh, with an ice gel brick and insulated packaging for added peace of mind. During the warmer months, we recommend placing your order in the fridge within 2 hours of delivery. In cooler weather, it’s safe for up to 4 hours. You’ll receive an SMS once your box is delivered—just a friendly nudge to pop it in the fridge as soon as possible to maintain quality.
All of our meats are shipped frozen to preserve peak flavor and quality. Due to the nature of our transportation, items may arrive partially defrosted. Rest assured, these can be safely refrozen at home, as they are stored under secure, chilled conditions throughout the journey.
If your order did not arrive as expected, please check the tracking status on your order:
- On Hold: Your box is delayed, and we’ll update you when it’s back on track.
- Delivered: If tracking shows “delivered” but you haven’t received it, reach out to our Customer Care team.
- Cancelled: If we couldn’t fulfil your order, you’ll be notified and rescheduled promptly.
We currently serve most areas across Australia. To check if we deliver to your location, simply enter your postcode on our website’s postcode checker at the top of the page. Want to know more?
We deliver nearly every day, giving you flexibility to select a convenient delivery day at checkout.
Please note a standard handling time of 7 days to ensure that every item arrives in its optimal, frozen-fresh state.
We pack and ship orders twice a week from our farm, using a frozen courier service. While we do our best to get orders out quickly, please allow up to 14 days for delivery, especially if you're in a regional area like North Queensland or Perth.
We’re a small regenerative farm — not a warehouse. Every order is hand-packed here with care, using animals we’ve raised ourselves or from like-minded farms. Because our boxes are sent frozen, we rely on specialty couriers who only collect on certain days and don’t visit all areas daily.
Your delivery should arrive on the day you selected at checkout.
You’ll receive an SMS with tracking details when your box is dispatched. If your order did not arrive as expected, please check the tracking status on your order:
- On Hold: Your box is delayed, and we’ll update you when it’s back on track.
- Delivered: If tracking shows “delivered” but you haven’t received it, reach out to our Customer Care team.
- Cancelled: If we couldn’t fulfill your order, you’ll be notified and rescheduled promptly.
We’d love to say yes - but the truth is, frozen freight ain’t for the faint-hearted.
We do everything we can to get your box to you on the date you select. Most of the time, we nail it. But occasionally, courier delays or long-haul routes throw a spanner in the works - and delivery lands a little earlier or later than expected.
If you’re ordering for a specific date (like stocking the freezer before a trip, or feeding the in-laws), we recommend:
- Placing your order at least 2 weeks in advance
- Emailing us at hello@locavorebyron.com to flag your preferred date - we’ll mark it as priority and keep an eye on it for you
We won’t promise what we can’t control - but we will do everything in our power to get it there on time.
If your tracking link hasn’t come through yet, your order likely hasn’t been packed or collected yet.
We send tracking details as soon as your box is on the move.
If you’re wondering where things are at, feel free to get in touch via email hello@locavorebyron.com and we’ll check for you.
Yes, we can update your delivery address as long as we have at least 2 days’ notice before dispatch.
If the new address means sending your order via a different depot, it may affect your delivery date.
Email us at hello@locavorebyron.com as soon as you spot the mistake, and we’ll do our best to make it right.
Our sausages are made the traditional way — using natural casings:
• Thick sausages (like beef, lamb, chicken naked bacon fennel): pork intestine
• Thin sausages (like bangas and chicken confit garlic): sheep intestine
No synthetic skins. No shortcuts.
One pack contains either:
• 4 thick sausages, or
• 6 thin sausages
When you order online, our sausages are priced per kilo — that’s:
• 3 packs of thick sausages (12 total)
• 2 packs of thin sausages (12 total)
Our beef, camel and lamb are halal.
Our chicken and pork are not.
Right now, no, and here’s why.
The demand is high, and we only work with producers who meet our strict regenerative and organic standards. That means limited volumes, so we’re keeping lamb for in-store customers in Byron Bay (for now).
